Finding a Lost Man on a Hot Day

On June 29, 2026, around 1:00 PM, Megumi Matsui (54) and Miku Suzuki (37) from Akita City found an 80-year-old elderly man leaning on a fence inside the premises of Akita University Medical Hospital. It was a hot day, and the man had become lost while walking. He was showing signs of potential heatstroke.

Quick Action and Safety

Upon approaching him, Megumi Matsui asked, “Are you okay?” The man revealed he was lost. Observing his extensive sweating and heatstroke risk, Matsui and Suzuki quickly worked together to guide the man to a nearby hospital for medical attention and contacted the police. The man was subsequently protected.

Recognition for Compassionate Act

Akita East Police presented Matsui and Suzuki with a certificate of appreciation on July 24 for their swift and compassionate actions in ensuring the elderly man’s safety. Matsui commented, “It takes courage, but I want to continue to prioritize this in the future.” Suzuki expressed relief, stating, “I am glad he was able to return home safely.”
